Looks as Salem Airport is soon to enjoy another Expanded Passenger Terminal!
This is addition to the New Expanded Terminal we received in 2007. That was to accommodate Delta Airlines service to Salt Lake City that taxpayers and local businesses supported with $500,000. in subsidy and $500,000. in guaranteed ticket sales.
That lasted from February 2007 to October 2008 when the money ran out and passengers tired of the unusually high ticket prices.
But not to worry about having a Newly expanded Airline Terminal without Air Service as building it has put some local blue collar workers to work and that has helped reduce the number of people drawing unemployment.
Not only that, the Feds know blue collar workers are more likely to spend their paychecks and put the money into local circulation and all that without having to retrain them as Electrical Engineers.
Oh yes, and speaking of expansion I should mention the additional parking lot they are going to create to work in conjunction with the No Air Service Air Terminal.
But what I find most interesting is when I Googled "Salem Oregon Airport" under "News" I didn't find anything being reported about the needless expansion.
Guess the newsies have been busy with investigating other government waste and just haven't gotten around to this.
