Zen Airlines perhaps?
Looks as Salem Airport is soon to enjoy another Expanded Passenger Terminal!
This is addition to the New Expanded Terminal we received in 2007. That was to accommodate Delta Airlines service to Salt Lake City that taxpayers and local businesses supported with $500,000. in subsidy and $500,000. in guaranteed ticket sales.
That lasted from February 2007 to October 2008 when the money ran out and passengers tired of the unusually high ticket prices.
But not to worry about having a Newly expanded Airline Terminal without Air Service as building it has put some local blue collar workers to work and that has helped reduce the number of people drawing unemployment.
Not only that, the Feds know blue collar workers are more likely to spend their paychecks and put the money into local circulation and all that without having to retrain them as Electrical Engineers.
Oh yes, and speaking of expansion I should mention the additional parking lot they are going to create to work in conjunction with the No Air Service Air Terminal.
But what I find most interesting is when I Googled "Salem Oregon Airport" under "News" I didn't find anything being reported about the needless expansion.
Guess the newsies have been busy with investigating other government waste and just haven't gotten around to this.

Perhaps, the lesson of The Field of Dreams wasn't the best lesson to be taught.

Allen,
I am not sure what part of town you live in, but I live near State and Lancaster. I do all my shopping in this area to save gas, and I can tell you that there are only ever growing amounts of Mexicans in this area of town. If anything, we have noticed a huge influx. Last week, the newly remodeled Walmart put up all their new in-store signs. ALL in Spanish! When we asked for the manager to complain, he claimed it was a mistake by corporate and that they only used Spanish ONLY signs in places where the Mexican shopper population was 90% or better like in Texas. He said the Lancaster store was only 50% so the signs would be replaced with English. I rechecked yesterday, and they are in both languages now. That any US stores would have Spanish only signs is outrageous! It's bad enough to have to weed through product manuals and boxes with Spanish translated all over them, so you can't even read directions without sifting through the other pages, etc. So, sorry to say, your observations of less hispanics in Salem is likely inaccurate and Walmart has the demographic data to prove it. I'm also so tired of hearing Spanish spoken in the workplace. I have heard this at all fast food chains, but especially Burger King and McDonalds. It is also a daily occurance at Walmart on Lancaster. There should be rules about this. They aren't translating for customers but talking amongst themselves. This should not be tolerated. My family has lived in Salem for over 50 years, and we are considering moving to get away from the Mexicans. It's sad to have to move away from our home town, especially in this economy, rather than have our officials deal with the invasion. I just heard that the Census is showing a 200% increase in Hispanics in the past ten years. At this rate it won't be long until we'll be called the Estados Unidos and will all be forced to learn Spanish in order to conduct our business, shopping and be competitive in the workforce.
