Why I no longer trust our State Government

When leaving the grocery store today I stopped to invest $1. at the Oregon Lottery kiosk and discovered a new screen on the monitor.

There we have it, our State of Oregon Lottery has decided to join in the Mega Millions rip-off contest as PowerBall and Megabucks isn't bringing in enough income from the populace that is given to gamble. State run Video Poker and Slots don't make it any more.

What caught me was how the new screen has been configured to trick the unfamiliar ticket buyer into believing the minimum purchase is now $2. and that will give you a shot at both the Megabucks and Mega Millions.


Closer examination reveals the buyer does have a choice to buy a single $1. ticket. However it does take some study which I assume the average sucker will not take the time to discover.

Them Greedy Bastards are doing it again. For the kids . . . right?

So that's what happened!

While reviewing comments on a recent StatesmanJournal (on-line) story a reader asked what happened to the USA being the world's greatest (social) Melting Pot.

That comment was quickly followed with another that ridiculed the first writer and explaining, that was Old School and not used in education for well over twenty years as Multiculturalism has taken its place.

Ah hah, so the seed was planted back then with the obvious intent to divide us so we might be destroyed.

Such a pity as we once laughed ourselves silly with Ethnic jokes and the best were those we directed at ourselves.

We should be helping Portland celebrate their Embracing Diversity!

Gang shoot-outs in the Lloyd Center, Police capping a crazy at Hoyt Arboretum (in tranquil West side), five shooting incidents in a week, dead tree-huggers found floating in the river and more.

Portlanders have been preaching to the rest of Oregon about the virtues of Diversity and Embracing those with different values. I hope they enjoy it.

Lets not tell them of how the Oregon Health Plan is bringing thousands of poor sick people to the state and they are bringing their large families with them.

I spot a poster mounted on the wall of a local restaurant that states "We Comply with E-Verify" and was pleased to see notification.

Then I notice the phone number 888-464-4218 printed on the poster and decide to give them a call and inquire how I might be able to help in promoting the use of the E-Verify program.

After explaining the reason for my call twice over, the best suggestion offered was for me to contact my local Chamber of Commerce.

Yeah right! Now who in my local Chamber of Commerce would that be, the English speaking or the fast growing Hispanic division?

In the past year I have collected over two pounds (totaling 520 pages) of Class Catalogs sent to me by Chemeketa Community College that I have absolutely no use for, or any desire to read, or line a bird cage with.

What is worse is I have never requested any of these publications and I understand that every known address in Marion, Polk and much of Yamhill Counties receives them all through the years as I and I suspect few of them find any more use for them.

Imagine the ENERGY savings that could result if CCC were to send these to only those who call (or write) and request them and allow all others to review them on line.

But then maybe I just don't understand as I lack a Masters Degree in Community College management.

Remember when!

That when you called your folks and asked them to pick you up after school, say about 7:00 pm?

That still happens even today. However with Mexicans it might involve having a mom spin by in the Tahoe real fast to grab junior and three of his pals.

You see they needed move quickly to escape the Police who want about seven or eight of them for ganging up on a single Southside (15 year old male) gang member and beating him severely.

That's what you get for wearing a white t-shirt in Northside territory.

P.S. The cops did catch about five. That will cost us taxpayers a bunch more in juvi court and probation activity beyond the hospital ER tab. Oop's, I forgot about the school counselors and Special Education overtime needs.
