Now, did the Devil make them do it,

News people have it that Crime is down. That's what they say!

In his recent book Feakonomics, Steve Levitt tells of how the City of Atlanta, Georgia "Lost" 22,000 Police reports in the year of 2002 alone and this has been happening since the early 1990's. He further tells how they consistently downgrade other reports of Violent crimes to non-violent so as to help Atlanta's sagging reputation. Now, did the Devil make them do it, or was the Chamber of Commerce involved?

This makes me wonder with knowing how many violent crimes are being reported in the Salem area to 911 and our never hearing or seeing any reports in the local news about such events. And, my being aware of the frequent reports to 911 such as of large gang fights and when upon arrival the Police find nothing more than blood spattered parking lots and a few pieces of torn clothing. Here again, no victim, no crime, no report, no FBI statistic. Yep, crime is down alright.

Now, couple that with knowing how many citizens have stopped reporting crimes as the end result only brings them higher insurance premiums and reduced property values.

Sorry folks, I see some Spinning going on hear and its not just in my head from all the Sirens we keep hearing.
