The Growing of Government!
It seems our local Salem area Tax Supported handicapped/elderly/disabled transport service "Wheels" has expanded and is now providing even more services to even more people.
What I have come to learn is Wheels are now running competition to all the many private Medical Transport mini-vans that have become common on our streets and highways in the last few years.
Note: I have always appreciated the private Medical Transport mini-vans as they like the Wheels buses usually carried one passenger, but did so much more efficiently and affordably. They were Green, if you know what I mean and they didn't need dark-tinted windows to conceal the waste.
Knowing this helps explain why I recently spotted a Wheels Bus (with the usual single passenger on board) moving North of Estacada and headed towards Sandy, Oregon. Golly that is a fer piece out of the Salem service area. At the time I thought, what somebody has contracted a Wheels 12 passenger rig as a tour bus or was it stolen?
With a quick phone call I was able to learn the new + Medical Transport Service (provided by Wheels) is to fill mobility needs of Oregon Health Plan (OHP) Plus members and Wheels can now bill OHP directly without the member having to become involved. Bend ho!!
Now isn't that swell?
Meanwhile, I have this hunch Craig's List is soon to enjoy a Boom of high-mileage mini-vans being offered for sale. So much for private enterprise.
