Now, if Portlanders really wanted to prove themselves being green!

They would save the $300,000. they had given to support the Port and welcome dropping the word International from the Airport's name as over the long-run that would save untold amounts of ink and paint.

Just think of all the luggage tags alone that would read PD with no X, not to mention all the savings on business cards, letter head and wear-and-tear on HP printers.

Such an act would demonstrate the Cities commitment to the environment, to the World.

But lets not stop there as they can always look to savings on street signs by reducing the paint and material used and often wasted. Hey, street signs are not cheap.

Example: Changing the street name signs from Union Ave. to Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.was a horrendous waste. This when they could have simply chosen MLKJ Blvd. Here again, think of all the business cards, letter head and advertising ink that could have been saved both today and in the future when we run out of oil.

Now, what is it the anti-environment people have planned with 39th Ave. and how can they beat the number unless they use Braille?

But wait, think of how Blind Bicyclists would be better able to find their way around town if the City provided them with Braille Bumps in the pavement.

I think we are on a roll here!
