I wish!

That today I could escort the late JBJ (Lyndon Baines Johnson, thirty-sixth and Democratic President of the United States) on a tour of my local (in the better part of town) Winco Foods (employee owned) grocery store (where prices are less) so he and his wife Lady Bird Johnson could see the second and third generation result of their "Great Society" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Society - 72k -) welfare program.
The main goals of LBJ's Great Society program were social reforms including were the elimination of poverty and racial injustice.
What they would find today is the percent of non-productive individuals in the US today is many hundred of times greater than it was when the effort began and we now have race riots in our high schools with those involved numbering in five to six hundred per event.
We built it and they came!

The Great Society was a great bust.

At least it wasn't a "war on".

That whole "war on poverty"
war on drugs
war on whatever
never worked, either.

As for the riots:

Yeah, great progress. Blacks vs. Hispanics or Latinos or whatever the term of the day is for them.

Yeesh.
