Let's give the Criminals the Boot, again!

Re-invent a modern version of the Oregon Boot which was first created in 1866 and patented by Oregon State Penitentiary Warden J.C. Gardner.

The Boot then was a heavy iron leg cuff which was worn at the ankle and secured with a steel stirrup. Google it up if you like.

You can bet your bippy Prison Inmates were easy to control when they were wearing the Boot!

My suggestion today is to create a New Oregon Boot made of Titanium (or some other space age materiel) and offer Convicts (Corrections Clients) the choice of wearing The Boot or serving Hard Time in the joint.

The New Oregon Boot would fit on the lower leg like a brace and be locked in place until those in authority removed it from the wearers leg. Any tampering and the alarm goes off and the built in GPS system reports their location via cell phone. The same Cell system could report in on a timed basis and help keep tabs on the Convicts (Correction Clients) location.

But most importantly, the New Boot would limit the movement of the person wearing it and not allow them to run quickly or even drive a car for that matter. To hell with them, let them stay where they are.

It could also be nearly impossible to disguise or conceal and most persons seen wearing a New Oregon Boot would be quickly recognized as a Convict (Corrections Client) and be given the treatment deserving of their status.

To hell with their rights. Give them a choice of time in the joint or to take a hike in the Boot.

We don't need tougher laws, we just need to get tough with those who break our existing laws.
