Actually, more substantive analysis has revealed that the contaminant in the wheat gluten purchased from China for use in pet foods was not, in fact, rat poison - but melamine. Melamine is a plasticizing agent. How it got mixed into the food chain has not been revealed, but it seems reasonable to suspect that the Chinese processed melamine and then - without cleaning the equipment - processed wheat gluten.
So then is should be described as Cat and Dog Killer.
Has anybody tried feeding it to Rats?
