Drug Bust Nets 26 in Skagit County

December 1, 2006

SEATTLE - DEA agents, along with officers from state and local law enforcement agencies, arrested 26 people linked to a Mexico drug-trafficking ring.

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, the 26 suspects were part of ring based in Sinaloa, Mexico that was sending methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin to Skagit County. Fourteen other suspects are being sought.

"Today we have dismantled a drug trafficking group that brought significant amounts of methamphetamines, cocaine and heroin, from Mexico into the Skagit County Region," said DEA Special Agent In Charge Rodney Benson in a news release by the U.S. Department of Justice. "This group used sophisticated hidden compartments to transport drugs from Mexico into the United States and then used the same vehicles to transport large amounts of cash back south of the border."
