I see the use of a MDT (Mobile Display Terminal) as a Text communication tool as a way for some Governments to minimize negative information given out over the Dispatch Radio system.
Use of the MDT does limit the information that might become available to news organizations that's use might degrade perceptions of the community. In other words, create a bad community reputation and cause harm to the local economy and tax-base.
Yes, there is the value of keeping the criminal element unaware of certain Police activity, however being involved with or going to support a vehicle pursuit is not information worthy of protection.
Mums the word is becoming more and more common with Police agencies as our society degrades, which in turn only helps to conceal our growing problems.
