Embracing Cultural Differences in Family Planning

Headline: Salvador Barocio-Garibay, 18, arrested after the death of his two month old son

In the US the mother is the usual decision maker as to keeping a child or having an abortion.

This is the second young Hispanic male in a week charged with the death of a wife or girlfriend's child, and that within the City of Salem.

The other is Steven Salazar, 23, who is accused of killing 2 year old Kayden Manzo-Ritchie.

In Mexico both deaths would have simply been added to their Culturally accepted, and unusually High, infant mortality rate that leads most US Citizens to assume it results from them lacking adequate medical care.

In the US people have fear of Big Brother, whereas in Mexico (and now in Salem) its Dad they must watch.

You need to check your information. The person who killed Kayden Manzo Ritchie was not Mexican. He was American, born and raised right here in the US by family members also born and raised in the US. Furthermore, killing a child in Mexico is not "culturally accepted." Although I find most of your opinions ill-informed and repugnant, I appreciate that you have the right to express them.

You have got to freakin' be kidding me that anyone would think the the killing of a child could ever be thrown into the catagory of "culturally accepted"! I am astounded that one could even read this and not be outraged! Put yourself in this woman's shoes and see if the stigma of this being "culturally accepted" helps ease her heartbreaking pain.
