Lumpers, that's who!

The recent story of Fireworks stolen in Clackamas starts with a Mr. Lopez telling of his 26 ft. Van being taken from where he had them stored. It was one of the two vans his business uses to deliver Furniture purchased from an area Big Box Retailer.

Then we learn of the same thieves stealing another Truck Tractor from yet another business, that was used at yet another location, to move a large semi-trailer that was loaded with fireworks, at yet another location.

Golly, it sure seems as somebody knew a lot about who was shipping what, to whom, why, when and where.

Then we learn about the 26 ft van stolen from Clackamas being found in Salem of all places. Can't imagine why.

Next we hear of a couple of Hispanic guys from "Salem" are caught after one of the two Budget rental moving vans they had loaded with stolen fireworks crashes in California and kills two innocent people.

What I haven't heard about yet is the common link to all these trucks and businesses and that is who they hire to load and un-load their trucks and help delver furniture to someone's home or business.

So who are they? Day workers that's who! The Day workers that the trucking industry calls "Lumpers" or those who work for Cash as day labor and specialize in helping move freight.

Example: A trucker from LA arrives at Fred Meyer's warehouse in Clackamas and is responsible for unloading the cargo on Freddy's dock. So, rather than bring a work crew with him he get on the CB Radio in Clackamas and hires several local Lumpers (cash Day Laborers who now are almost all Illegal Aliens) to help.

Next, we mix in a little Organized Crime and what we have is a well coordinated crime that uses the knowledge of local Lumpers.

The next question, is how many businesses are robbed and burglarized as a result of Truckers hiring Illegal Alien Day Laborers, local furniture delivery people included?

Remember this the next time you purchase anything that needs to be delivered, and inquire if the Retailer sub-contracts that effort out or uses their own employees using their own trucks.
