Why is this story so newsworthy?
Portland based TV News is all a twitter tonight about Canby firefighters finding a 4-year-old girl wandering alone on Highway 99E at 7:30 Wednesday morning.
They go on to tell of how the child was reunited with her mother about and hour and a half later after she had wandered away from a baby-sitters residence and a firefighter explained of being surprised no one else had stopped to help the child.
Note: Neither the mother or the baby-sitter had reported the child missing.
I don't understand why this story is so newsworthy when similar situations occur quite often here in Salem, where very young children are found wandering alone day or night and some have even been found playing in traffic. So what's all the excitement about?
No, we are not hardened and cruel as its more of a Cultural thing. Perhaps people of Salem have done more to Embrace Diversity than the folks in Canby.
