Experiment Failed . . .

News has it Wal-Mart has withdrawn from their idea of building a Huge Distribution Warehouse facility in Salem. A project that was to eventually provide over 800 family wage jobs in an area with a failing private economy.

Poof, that's all folks!

This was to have been built on the State owned "Mill Creek Industrial Development" property and considered vital to bringing new employers to the area.

Ted the Red to the rescue!!

Alas, an economic development project in true Government Style and it went up in smoke. Just as it should be expected when private enterprise sees themselves falling into a Government trap.

Perhaps they saw something on the horizon? Perhaps that being required to operate a Bilingual facility or some other absurd mandate hidden in the fine print?

Pity is, the State has already gone to such great expense as to widen I-5 to six lane from four (for a several mile stretch) and rebuilt an interchange all to handle the additional truck traffic that was to soon arrive.

So much for Government's use of a Tax Deferral Pork Chop as bait in luring industry to Oregon when Private Enterprise has failed.

Pretty sad considering this was a clean cut, non-pollution causing, Chinese Import Warehouse that would not bring any environmental concerns other than those Unknown Chemicals gassing from the Foreign Made Inventory.
