Good Sign of the Times!

Went out for my weekly McDonald's food fix today (McChicken sammich) and because of road repair and store remodeling I needed to travel out of my neighborhood finding myself at a Mikey D's very near North Salem High School at a little before 3:00 PM.

Knowing the area I was not surprised to find the interior loaded with Hispanic high school kids who were all yammering in Spanish Only and a smattering of them being young girls dressed like hookers as usual.

But what I was surprised to see was Not One Hispanic working behind the counter or in the kitchen.

I don't expect E-Verify to visibly thin the Mexican population very soon as their displacing Gringos didn't happen over night.

Why is it?

Many people will spend thousands of dollars to buy an almost invisible hearing aid which are a huge pain, yet think nothing of hanging a Bluetooth cell phone device on their ear.

So maybe what we need is a combo device that includes both, or am I being logical again?

Credit where credit due!

I was driving Northbound on 12th street SE in Salem today and found myself keeping even pace with the engine of an Amtrak train as it left the station.

Dang, that was an experience I don't wish to repeat soon as the Horn Blowing was not only constant it was twice as loud as I recall trains in the past.

Ouch that hurt but now I understand what folks are complaining about!

All this because of so many homeless people having chosen to use a train as their best method to commit suicide. Why not as its free, dependable, easily accessibly in spite of the Million $ walls intended to stop them and it's 100% effective.

I know, with all those positive points its hard to believe its government subsidized.

Let me think

Reports tell the most Stolen Car today is a 1994 Honda Accord.

Now, who would you normally associate with driving a 1994 Honda Accord, stolen or otherwise?

Ditto.

Sharing our wealth!

Part of the Stimulus Money being spent in Salem is to bring our ADA sidewalk ramps to 2011 standards and its going to a company based in Mexico.

FedEx brings jobs to Troutdale

FedEx Ground's new $100 million distribution center in Troutdale is said to employ over 700 workers, with hopes of reaching 1,000 in the future.

The part of the story that is being un-reported is how this expansion is being driven by a change in major retailers operations and how they supply their stores.

With using high-tech systems retailers are now able to track exactly what their stores are selling and then quickly re-supply those items from central warehouses rather than keeping large back-rooms loaded with inventory that in most part is not selling.

That brings us to the question of the retailers needing open highways and free flowing traffic that will allow the needed just-in-time delivery of those products consumers are wanting to buy.

And that brings us to the question of Oregon's antiquated roadways and the congestion they create and that problem being compounded with multi-hour road closing Traffic Accident Reconstruction Investigations that do little more than help Pubic Servant Investigators generate over-time incomes.

I guess we should not be surprised when we see more reports of continued decline in Oregon's economic condition.

Did you see the Headline?

Net farm income in Oregon dropped 41% in 2009!

2009 was last year.

That is No Big surprise to many of us who happen to have noticed the steady decline of our economy.

Yet the Liberal Clowns who we have working in State government (including our Governor) didn't have a clue.

These are the same people who can't wait to welcome more Illegal Aliens.

And to think some want us to re-elect Dr. No whose lack of attention started us down this path to perdition.

Wonder where the Yellow went?

I'm noticing a major reduction in the number of Special Education (short) Buses on the streets of Salem this year and that gives me reason to think our schools may be running quite a bit low on Illegal Alien students.

So what is the delay in our getting the student population numbers that we usually hear soon after the school year begins? Perhaps they are trying spin the good news for taxpayers into another "We Need More Money" story.

Zen Airlines perhaps?

Looks as Salem Airport is soon to enjoy another Expanded Passenger Terminal!

This is addition to the New Expanded Terminal we received in 2007. That was to accommodate Delta Airlines service to Salt Lake City that taxpayers and local businesses supported with $500,000. in subsidy and $500,000. in guaranteed ticket sales.

That lasted from February 2007 to October 2008 when the money ran out and passengers tired of the unusually high ticket prices.

But not to worry about having a Newly expanded Airline Terminal without Air Service as building it has put some local blue collar workers to work and that has helped reduce the number of people drawing unemployment.

Not only that, the Feds know blue collar workers are more likely to spend their paychecks and put the money into local circulation and all that without having to retrain them as Electrical Engineers.

Oh yes, and speaking of expansion I should mention the additional parking lot they are going to create to work in conjunction with the No Air Service Air Terminal.

But what I find most interesting is when I Googled "Salem Oregon Airport" under "News" I didn't find anything being reported about the needless expansion.

Guess the newsies have been busy with investigating other government waste and just haven't gotten around to this.

9/11/2001

I remember that day all to well and mostly when my wife and I were watching early on and well before the first tower fell as NYC Fire personnel were shown marching in obviously measured and disciplined steps, in single file and into the scene and I yelled out "look, they are marching to their deaths . . . and they know it."

Wow!

That I will never forget as then I was asking myself a question and I didn't have an answer.

Obama is gone a Biden is fading fast!

Fewer is sometimes better!

Especially when it comes to:

Fewer people being killed on our highways by drunken drivers.

Fewer Spanish speakers working at Fast Food outlets.

Fewer Short School Buses traveling our streets.

And all of it seeming to result from our having Fewer Illegal Aliens in the US.

But lets not relax as most that have returned to Mexico took their Anchor Babies with them and they are the Illegal's return ticket guarantees.

Five thousand words!

The Oregon State Fair 9-6-10

The Democrat's booth.

About 10 Minutes later.

The Republican's booth.

About 10 minutes later.

The Union booth on Labor Day!

The story touched my heart!

This morning CNN was telling about the millions of under-employed we have in the US and used an adult male (head of a household) as an example of who is struggling to keep their families fed and housed with their new, lower paying jobs.

They told of how this one adult male who is now working at Home Depot has suffered a loss of over $100,000.00 in annual income and how that and a loss of benefits has impacted the family. Life is tough.

He went on to tell of how he had expected to keep his previous job for a lifetime, to retire comfortably at 56 year of age, how he even lost his One Month of vacation each year and how those days of his being a United Auto Worker (UAW) have past.

But what really burns my butt is how the News Media that is telling us this story today, refused to report what the UAW were winning over the years in all the disputes they had with the Big 3. I suspect, that had the public become aware of the super-sweet deals the UAW people were winning, the public's negative reaction would have helped keep a lid on their un-challenged and un-reasonable demands.

Then and as today our News Media has failed the public who looks to them for needed information. So who were the News folks working to protect with their silence? The UAW never bought any advertisements in print or TV. Perhaps it was the result of their Political affiliations?

I just got this hunch, how bout you?

In the last year I have seen more and more of those who I call responsible single family home owners welcoming into their homes family members who have come upon hard times.

The first signs include a sudden increase in the number of vehicles parked on or near the residence and that soon followed by yard and garage sales where the new arrivals liquidate their personal possessions. Its sad to see the many unsold items left out in the rain as there is no storage room for anything now they are using the garage for sleeping quarters.

But what I find more disturbing is how many of the new arrivals of all ages constantly trail back and forth to the nearest (non-franchise) Mini-Market and return with bags of rot-gut prepared food and liter bottles of soft drinks. Wow, what a business!

So I'm wondering how well all these independently owned Mini-Markets are playing by the rules when accepting payment with Welfare Debit Cards.
