CSI Overdose!

Tonight a little before 8:00 PM an adult male was shot an killed at the Barberry Village Apartments in Gresham and as the TV news people report his body is still laying in the street where it fell and that more than three hours earlier.
The concern is the body is within full view of the apartments across the street and as the TV news reporter explained, the scene was a bit upsetting to residents in the neighborhood.
What the hell are they waiting for? Odds are the killer will never pay for the crime but we taxpayers won't escape buying the Over Time investigation gathering meaningless information.

What a bunch of undeserving and unappreciative wimps!

The first eight minutes of the TV News at 6:00 PM was devoted to the many Portland area residents who are quite upset with all the traction gravel covering the street and highways, the garbage service that had been winter storm delayed for two weeks and those who had yet to receive their Christmas packages expected to arrive via UPS.
Please allow me to present all those complainers with these few words on behalf of all those City Street workers, Garbage haulers and UPS drivers.
Get Stuffed!

We have yet to learn!

News has it, SUVs are again out-selling passenger cars and few of any are Hybrids.
And, the FDA has just approved a new drug that makes eye lashes longer and fuller.
So where can I find a Sub-Prime home loan?

Over the top . . . or not?

I awoke this AM to find the city almost inundated with ODOT trucks of every type including Snow plows, Sanders and Deicer rigs working in all quadrants of the greater metro area.
Wow, are we protected or what? But wait, its above freezing and the forecast is for the temps to rise during the day, so what's with all the action?
Then I recalled that later today there was to be a Huge Funeral Procession to honor the Oregon State Police Officer who died last week as a result of a Bombing of a Woodburn bank.
So this seemed over-reaction is no surprise to me considering an ODOT supervisor earlier in the week told his crews to not spare any expense in preparation for the Funeral Procession given the Woodburn Officer that died in the same event.
Then about 2:30 in the afternoon the contingent of Snow plows, Sanders and Deicer rigs all hit the barns leaving one Plow Sander to cover I-5 North and another I-5 South and that about the time the temps suddenly dropped and the area became a skating rink with snow and Freezing Rain everywhere.
But that was no surprise to me as most of the day I had been on the www and watching the Cold Arctic Air as it moved South down the valley.
Guess we taxpayers know where we stand.
I wonder what kind of Funeral preparations ODOT will make for any who might die in the next few hours as a result of Ice Laden Roadways that lacked sand.
Please note, my complaints deal with ODOT's executive management and the Capitol Building decisions as to how they spend the Billions of Highway dollars we taxpayers give them each year and not with the hard working road maintenance folks that get stuck with delivering the needed services.

One positive change that I have observed!

That with more Black people being seen on Cable and Broadcast News and most are well educated, articulate, well spoken, regular people and a pleasant break from the Hip-hop, whacko Stereotypes we have come to know as representing the race. MTV, BET and SNL ready, they ain't.
I can imagine their frustration with after all these years the only Blacks that were able to gain time on a TV screen were those if any other race would never be seen my the mainstream public.
This all goes to confirm my earlier opinion that our News Media folks are not always looking out for our best interests.

Where does our School Money Go?

Here are two examples:
#1 The 112 page book (on the left) Winter Class Scedule is chock full of educational opportunities that I understand was sent to every mailing address in Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties, 4 times a year whether they want them or not.
This the Big Book is as I recall similar to the one I received last year that offered we residents Clown Classes that I was saddened to see were not being taught by our Governor Teddy Koolonkowskis. Guess Ted is busy planning for the year 2055.
#2 On the right is the next to arrive 32 page Community Education Catalog we all received a few weeks later and it chocked full of such dandies as classes in Tribal Belly Dancing, Grant Writing basics, Digital Music Production, Aromatherapy, Spanish Medical Interpreter, Wedding Flowers, Hip Hop Dance, Salsa Aerobics and by golly under Theater I see again the Art of Clowning is back again.
Oh yes, I see they have included a course in Auto Body Repair. Now, what the hell could I do with that?

News has it, Powell's Books has "Income Issues"

Wow, that's some Change!
Has Reality entered hemp haven?
I have a hunch more Art Appreciation Majors will be frequenting the nearest Western Union and collecting Money the family has sent from . . . back home.
Might give them a chance to brush up on their Spanish while standing in line with Pablo who is there to send Money to his family . . . back home

Who is ready to have their Infrastructure Stimulated?

That with the flow of cash soon coming from the New Improved White house when Billions of $ will be spent on Public Works projects which will include Roads, Bridges, Streets, Highways, Freeways and Public Works and Public Buildings.
All those things we commonly know to be made primarily of Cement and Concrete, right? Well, at least that is what will support the curved glass, ornate brick-work and cultured marble.
This difficult economy we now suffer might have been a Big Surprise to some, however others saw it coming some time ago and have gotten themselves ready for the Big Infrastructure Push.

Yes, such people as the futuristic thinking folks at Cemex. You see, several years Cemex began buying up a whole bunch of the rock quarries and concrete suppliers across the US and that included foreign producers of the raw ingredient, the cement itself. You know, that white powdery stuff we import by the millions of tons every day in dry-bulk carriers (ships).
Here they are, our new friends and partners in Infrastructure Development, the Cemex folks: CEMEX, S.A.B. de C.V. Garza Garcia, NL 66265, Mexico. http://finance.yahoo.com/q/pr?s=CX
Nice to know that all those dollars we paid to have our houses painted, new roofs installed, landscaping maintained, hamburgers cooked and then sent home to Mexico have now come to some good, for somebody, somewhere.
Besides, what do we care if because of a few having a monopoly on Cement and Concrete the prices have skyrocketed in the last year, as all the Infrastructure Stimulus cash will be borrowed Federal money anyway.

Headline: UO index finds recession-like conditions

Wow, what a discovery!!
Using the University of Oregon's Index of Economic Indicators as a guide to the future of business in Oregon is like trying to use Google Earth in forecasting the weather.
A better gauge that isn't subject to bureaucrats massage would be counting the vacant parking spaces at shopping malls and/or noting the reduction of cigarette butts scattered around city bus stops.
Then if you wanted to learn about those in the upper income brackets, the data on Charmin sales as compared to Kirkland tissue would be a good tell.

Spare me please!

That from all those idiots who drink from the Tax Trough and now cry that "nobody saw this economic disaster coming."
Who didn't see it coming?
Was it those of us who were screaming about Illegal Alien laborers who were using phony social security numbers to buy houses and new SUVs with no down payments?
You fools, did you think we were just jealous?
How about those of us who loudly expressed our concerns over the many mid-income Gringos we knew that were cashing in on false home appreciations and racking up fifteen credit cards for $10,000 each?
As I recall it was the County Tax Assessors that started the false economy with their discovering an easy way to generate more tax revenue was to over-estimate real property values. Who was to complain if every year their property taxes increased by 5% and their home value went up 20%?
My best suggestion for you tax and spenders is to buy yourself a box of bullets so you will have something to sink you teeth in, as what's coming next is going to hurt you as much as it does me.
Reality is soon to be revisited and I'm ready for it!

Message to Teddy

Please ask the Vestas folks to consider installing diesel engines in their Wind Turbines so they can be used to blow away that Cold Winter Fog that tends to persist in the areas where you hope to site them.
Either that or have them install a few of those Modular Nuke Generators that will allow the turbines to run backwards.
We sure don't want to breathe stagnant air while we are freezing to death.

Hey Teddy, I got news for ya!

The same staffers that told you of the State being a Billion Bucks short in next years budget are the same people who just last month realized Oregon was in a recession.
So let me give you a more recent clue as to what they may report a year from now and that about what is going on today.
Clue: Garbage collection businesses are suffering a severe decline in service demand.
Is that a telltale of your future tax income or what?
