Propagating the Next Generation!

Have you seen the promotional TV spot Eastern Washington University has running telling of the opportunities they have available for students.

I just saw one on NWCN (Northwest Cable News) where a Hispanic student tells his story with video support showing Hispanic farm workers toiling in the fields.

He looked a lot like those in the fields however unlike any of them I guess he is a good 100 pounds over-weight and sporting a pony tail, which rather sets him well apart from the background scene.

Yes, his story is what you would expect of how he has risen from meager beginnings to now becoming a student at EWU.

Oh yes, his chosen career path . . . Government, what else?

We don't Preach here what we Practice there!

Headline: Illegal aliens face crackdown

Enough is enough!

The government is stepping up efforts to crack down on overstaying foreign workers, amid threat of a federal takeover of the immigration system.

The Department of Labor will publish this week a list of nonresident workers who are illegally staying and will public notice employers not to hire or employ any of the listed individuals for any position, including household or domestic positions.

That is it. They are going to get the Illegal Aliens (not immigrants) out of there.

Where is "there" you ask? Saipan of course. Its a small tropical island in the Pacific and under the management of the United States of America as a Commonwealth.

Looks as back home our Government doesn't Preach what we Practice elsewhere.

Spice Drops!

One of my more favorite candies.

All kinds of different colors and flavors to enjoy.

They have Green ones, Red ones, Yellow ones, Orange ones, Black ones, White ones . . . but no Blue ones. Perhaps we aren't ready for Blue Spice candy just yet, but then M&M's and some gum drops are Blue.

What I find interesting is with all this Diversity I am never able to find any one Flavor that I prefer . . . that much more than another.

All except for the Red ones, yuk. Those I despise! Clove flavor isn't right in candy, but I can see it used as an insect repellent.

In my book Clove flavoring in a bag of candy is as foreign as people speaking Spanish in a theater when the movie is in English. What are they a bunch of fruits there to Feel the Emotion?

So what do I do with the Red ones? They go in the garbage, what else?

Pity we don't have Singing Headlines!

This one would be music to my ears.

Headline: California Latinos fearful after immigration raids

I'm sorry for those innocents who get caught in the net, but that's what happens when Laws are ignored and willfully broken.

Those who want to benefit from all that our Nation of Law and Order has to offer, must first respect and obey our Laws as they are what give us Order.

Once upon a time!

As the story goes: The person who spent two days loosening
the latch on the mini-mart's fire exit and entered the store after closing hours, then waited for the manager to open the next morning and was subsequently hired as a stock clerk, going on
to be the next Employee of the Month.

Would you expect anything less from such a proven hard worker?

Of course the story is ridiculous and unbelievable as we all know that anybody who would spend two days breaking into a store wouldn't pass up the opportunity to steal all what they wanted.

Criminals do what criminals do, right?

So why then should we expect Illegal Aliens who have committed criminal acts by breaking into our country, would then decide to obey all of our laws and regulations once they were inside and then become good citizens, contributing to betterment of the USA?

The fact is they don't and we shouldn't expect they will. That is unless you are a fool or a socialist out to destroy the United States!

Free, but few Takers?

According to Oregon State Senator Jeff Kruse (who was on with Lars Larson today) only 40% of the children who today qualify for the Oregon Health Plan are participating and benefiting in the Free (taxpayer funded) Medical Care program.

Jeff and Lars could only surmise that all to many parents in Oregon are not as concerned with their children's health and well being as they believe they should.

I find that is only partially true as most of the poor parents are Playing it Smart, rather than Work Hard. Something I suppose is a learned skill.

Some of the reasons I suspect are:

#1 When becoming involved with the Oregon Health Plan, parents are literally opening their front door to DHS Social Workers, which I believe many see akin to inviting the Police in to have a look around.

That isn't going to happen as they don't need or want some Government Snoop poking around and tattling on what happens to who and where, medical pot license(s) of not.

#2 Using the Oregon Health Plan they must make appointments with those Doctors who will accept them.

Then, they have the hassle of arriving for the appointment on time, getting there by bus or other low cost transport system, waiting for hours in a small waiting room while trying to contain all their and other's out-of-control children (all of who have come along with their parents as they can't afford a baby sitter for that many) all that while not being able to smoke or drink for a good part of a day.

#3 Whereas, if in need of medical attention any time, 24 hours a day they can enjoy having Free Medical House Calls in a snap.

With just one quick call to 911 they will have 6 paramedics and likely several EMTs bounding through their front door in 6 minutes or less and everybody knows the Fire/Medical folks (everybody's friend) appreciate that opportunity to serve . . . as that keeps them all well employed, all well paid and with lots of time-off to enjoy their toys . . . not to forget the potential for rapid advancement as the Oregon Health Plan keeps expanding.

So who's the fool?

Me, I'm looking at the 40% of those who do participate . . . and 100% of those who do pay taxes.

Now why didn't I think of that?

Home Sale Registration Fees!

Can a "Crime Report Fee" be all that far away?

What makes me think they will also charge for the Forms, unless in Spanish when the Forms will be . . . Free?

I must tip my hat to KGW TV News-8

Is it a new World?

Both this morning and last night they told of how although the number of Meth Labs in Oregon have been reduced by a large number, it has not resulted in a reduction of Meth available on
the streets and that replacement supply being imported from Mexico.

They also tied that to the News story about a Hispanic man who was arrested the day before with over a pound of pure, un-cut, high potency Meth that was worth over $35,000.00.

The irony was they told of the person selling the Meth as a Portland man that now would likely face deportation.

Hello, deport a Portland man? They didn't explain that little detail.

Have you heard it?

It all seems to have sprouted from Cable News reporting from overseas some years ago.

But in the last few weeks it has caught on here.

I first picked it up on local TV News and now our Police and Fire folks have joined the chorus.

Its the word, Hospital!

I can only guess it has to do with demonstrating our Diversity as now they report the injured person has been transported to . . . Hospital.

No, its not . . . The Hospital . . . as we have always known it.

Nope, its just plain Hospital, and that's it.

Liberals: Please note the absence of the word "The."

I would write more about it, but now but I need to Grocery and then Gas Station.

We are their Bread and Butter!

KATU TV-2 must realize those of us who responded to their Web-Poll tonight, asking if we supported making English the Official State Language, that we responders are part of their prime target demographic and the people who float their boat.

It's we who their advertisers pay them big money to send us commercial messages, as its we who have the much sought after "Spendable Income."

No, the Illegal Aliens don't watch KATU and no the advertisers don't want their business and that is true of the measly few farmers and home builders who score on the cheap Illegal Alien labor.

It's us, the every day working stiffs who comprise TV stations Prime Demographic and tonight we have spoken at a ratio of 92% yes.

I suspect they might get the message as 92% has a certain glare to it.

Now, lets see who they give their spin support and don't tell me they don't do that.

Go Donna Go!!!

State Representative Donna Nelson has today introduced HB 2459 that would make English the official language of Oregon.

Read all about it here at: http://www.salem-news.com/index.php and please feel free to comment.

Hey Lefties, it doesn't mean you can't speak other languages!

I for one don't think we need street signs in Arabic . . . just yet.

The Class of 2007 has Graduated!

There we went Again!

Having enjoyed Oregon winters for many, many years I have learned that with every First Winter Snowfall we must again suffer graduating another class of Drivers who haven't the slightest idea as to how to manage in snow and ice.

This problem intensified during the late 70's when Front Wheel Drive (FWD) vehicles became popular as their improved traction gave many new drivers a false impression the road was less slick. That was until they tried stopping, where the FWD's lost any and all advantage.

Prior to FWD vehicles, most of the Nits, Ninnies and Ignos never made it out of the driveway or parking place and allowed those who were able to maneuver to travel in peace.

Then it became even more of an annual Catastrophe with the popularity of 4WD SUV's purchased by those who watched and believed the TV commercial showing them climbing out of avalanches and then ripping down an invisible highway at break-neck speeds. Who needs a snowmobile?

Its simple, just settle back in the leather luxury, turn on the seat heaters, flip on the Automatic Traction Control and away you go. If you have any doubt how well they work you need only drive over the Cascades on any snowy day and watch as the Igno's pass all the experienced drivers and later wave to you from a ditch.

Next, came the influx of escapees from California who brought with them their Dry Pavement SUV's and who I suspect were most of those who we watched in yesterday's video shown sliding down Portland hills, one-after-another, after another and another.

The good news is today with the Graduation Exercise over and yet with even more ice than yesterday, travel on our streets and highways has returned to a workable state, save a few stragglers who were late for class. Pot smokers perhaps?

Nothing else, the TV News folks grabbed some healthy over-time as they will next year about the same time.

Un-smoked Fish

For those who missed tonight's Travel Channel show "No Reservations" with host Anthony Bourdain (a NYC Foodie)
he visited Portland . . . and gave it what its worth.

Refreshing to see an honest review which Tony is not always known to deliver.

However, on this tourist visit he nailed the essence of
"What is Portland."

The line I liked best was his explaining how the West Coast is known to draw Disturbed People and of the choices Portland is
the cheapest. Need he say more?

It was great as Tony showed the street people and many others who just looked as street people.

It was pure Portland with its Weird and Freaky at their best and a hard nosed Pizza maker gained what I saw was the only positive color and that came with a hard left-hand spin.

Oh yes, Tony don't be surprised if Portland's Chamber of Commerce doesn't bother to first smoke the fish they are sending to your home address.

Perhaps the Solution is Lots of Water?

Many see the reason for the USA being able to succeed and prosper as no other civilizations, is that most of the immigrants coming here were separated by the Atlantic Ocean from their Tribal customs and Territorial links, and without those negative influence land connections were better able to assimilate with people with differing languages and from differing lands.

Yes there were conflicts, however it was neutral ground and turf battles were relatively minimal.

Neutral for all but the Native Americans who continued on suffering from Tribal customs and Territorial connections, which weakened their ability to resist the immigrant invaders. Simple enough, divided they fell!

Therefore, what we need do today is relocate all those persons of Mexico and Central America who are unhappy with their circumstance to the Middle East, and on return bring all the Middle Easterners who are unhappy back to Mexico and Central America.

We can call the activity Water Abroading and the purpose is to give them a fresh start.

My bet is, that by the time they commonly recover from the change of climate and lifestyle their old divisions might be of lesser concern and they begin working together in creating something similar to what we once had in the USA.

But then, in 200+ years everybody will again need to be relocated back from where their ancestors originated. The reason is the descendants of the original migrators will have lost any appreciation for what they then enjoy, greed and lust for power will overtake them and that will destroy any positive benefit of the earlier efforts.

Then it will be time to start over, again!

How can we win?

The demand for Corn used in the making of Ethanol is hurting the people of Mexico, as they don't have enough to fill orders for Corn Tortillas. Go figure!

So, we send them Wheat, they start getting fat like their cousins who or are living in the US and then more will die in the desert while sneaking into the US, and its all my fault for buying Gas with 10% Ethanol, that screws up my car and causes me to burn 20% more fuel, but it makes members of the Church of the Environment happy'er, maybe.

Dead birds rain down on towns half a world apart

It was back in the mid 70's when traveling by car in Southern Oregon, when I noticed (and photographed) a small purple'ish opaque (rainbow like) cloud that was shimmering very high in the otherwise clear blue, Summer sky.

It was not only unusual in that it was the only cloud in the sky, but it appeared to change to other shades of red, blue and green as it reflected the sunlight. Golly, that sure was purty!

With later asking many so-called weather experts I was unable to learn an answer to what may have caused that unusual purple cloud. So, I'm crazy!

Then in the 90's I was told by an Ag professional that what I had seen was likely a mist or vapor cloud coming from a petroleum based agricultural chemical (oil slick) that when sprayed (fr0m
land or by air) was caught in the rising air driven by a warming Sun, and rather than land on the farm crop (or orchard) as intended, it was carried up and away to whoever knows where.

I was also told that at an estimated 10 thousand feet of elevation (which was said quite possible) the mist-vapor in such a cloud could have traveled on the then West wind until the cooling late afternoon air would cause it to condense and fall to Earth, and then perhaps in eastern Oregon if not Idaho.

So today, when I hear of Moslem extremists having interest in Ag Spray Aircraft I can well understand how such a plane could easily be used as a random Terror Tool (but necessarily a Weapon) and how a cloud of poison gas could kill birds who had the misfortune of flying through it.

But then, in the 70's I doubt it was a smoke stack emmision . . . from China?

Not to worry!!!

Boise Cascade to close Salem paper plant

100+ Workers will lose their jobs later this year!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Not to worry as we can replace this "Family Wage" employer with high-end condos for some of LA's well healed escapees and create more house cleaning jobs (stoop labor) for Juan and Carmelita.

Not to worry about Juan and Carmelita not earning enough to cover their take from Social Services, as that will only show on the flip side of the balance page and buried so deep it will never be discovered.

A change with the Weather!

Again as usual on every Wednesday morning since sometime last Summer, a State of Oregon owned vehicle has again come to my neighborhood loaded with a Driver, a Guide and a severely MR/DD person to deliver the StatesmanJournal's weekly Shopper News/Ads, door-to-door.

However, with the cold rain/snow mix the routine has changed a bit with the driver moving the vehicle to within a few steps of where the Weekly Shopper Ads were to be dropped.

This extra effort allowed the Foot Guide (State employee?) who normally walks to each door with the client, to remain in the cozy warmth of the vehicle and yet direct the MR/DD Client to each drop point.

My guess is they are now teaching the MR/DD Client how to Work Smart. That with demonstrating how effort reduction can bring greater rewards, comfort wise at least.

I hate to imagine what these two able bodied MR/DD attendants do with themselves the rest of the week.

11:00 Update:

I now find the MR/DD'd delivery effort fell short with only reaching half the distance of where the State vehicle parked and the residence doors. Oh bother!

The best part of the discovery was finding the size of the paper is less than half of what it was not that long ago. Who knows, with this rate-of-decline the State employees might lose their ad-paper delivery jobs and we taxpayers may enjoy some tax-money savings, but I doubt it.

One Kick-ass dude!!

I must admit that I didn't expect much from Mexico's new President Felipe Calderon.

However, I can report that I am pleasantly surprised as he has done more for Mexico in the last few weeks than El Fox did in his full term.

Please Google up some News of Mexico and see what Felipe has going in his apparent struggle to save his homeland from Crime and Violence.

Who is a friend of the StatesmanJournal?

Who is afraid of the StatesmanJournal?

Again as usual on every Wednesday Morning a State owned vehicle came to my neighborhood loaded with a Driver, a Guide and a severely MR/DD person to deliver the StatesmanJournal's weekly Shopper News, door-to-door.

This activity is a Complete and Total waste of Taxpayers money as the person being exploited and used as an excuse in the State supporting the SJ is not now, or ever will be able to function without having a personal aide in their company showing them where and when to the drop the publications.

Yet the Sheeple of Oregon who are aware of this travesty (including many elected officials) choose to ignore the problem and thus give the offending agency impetus to expand into other efforts where their friends can benefit from similar tax-wasting activity.

So who among our elected officials have been made aware of this wasteful situation (some numerous times) and have done Nothing about it?

Then we have Salem's First for 2007

Arturo Manuel Montano was born at 8:14 a.m. Monday.

Now, what are the odds of that?

The mother of four is named Maria Corral, yet the son is a Montano and there is no mention of a father in the story.

Now, what are the odds of that?

The mom looks young enough to have many, many more babies.

Now, what are the odds of that?

Guess who?

Hint: Born in Hillsburito.
